Side story about Glen Beck fans. I was at a book store last night just browsing when I heard a guy tell his girlfriend that he was looking for a book called “Common Sense”. Since I was standing in the “historical writings” section, I looked down and saw the classic from Thomas Paine. I picked up the book and handed it to him and said “Is this what you are looking for?”. He said: “No. I don’t know what this is! I am looking for the Glen Beck book.”

I don’t think I need to really add to this.  The elevated blood pressure I’d have afterwards would be good for me.

During WWII, Irena was given permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto, as a plumbing/sewer specialist. She had an ulterior motive. Being German, Irena knew what the Nazi plan was for Jews.

Irena smuggled out infants in the bottom of a tool box she carried in the back of her truck. She used a burlap sack for bigger children. Irena managed to smuggle out and save 2500 infants and children, before she was caught! The Nazi’s broke both her legs and arms, and beat her severely.

A rural school in Kansas now keeps her legacy alive.

A prime example is Lenore Skenazy, who let her kid ride the subway in NYC alone.  You know what?  He was fine.  And so would scores of other kids if parents would just stop freaking out.

People need to stop being idiots and realize that the world hasn’t really changed in the last 30 years.  Teach your kids to be responsible and for adults to stay the hell out of your business and everything will be okay.

The poorer you are, the more things cost. More in money, time, hassle, exhaustion, menace. This is a fact of life that reality television and magazines don’t often explain.

They get steered to subprime lending. . . . The poor pay more for things middle-class America takes for granted.”

If only we could pay on a sliding scale like some other countries do.
