Despite Governor Spitzer’s deal with the Department of Homeland Security, most people in New York are angered over his proposal of giving illegal aliens driver’s licenses.

Proponents of the deal say that this will make pedestrians safer.  Exactly how is this possible?  It is relatively easy to pass the driver’s exam and having a license does not make one a better, or safer, driver.

Unfortunately, New York State is not the only state that allows illegal aliens to have driver’s licenses.  New Mexico, Maine, Hawaii, Michigan, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Maryland.  Utah issues a different type of license to illegal aliens than those of American citizens.  At least that’s a start to keeping them separate, though they shouldn’t have any type of license.  North Carolina issued licenses to illegal aliens until August, 2006 and Tennessee until May of this year.

The biggest problem with giving illegal aliens driver’s licenses is voter fraud.  Once you give illegal aliens a driver’s license, expect significant increases in voter fraud.  Most of America’s Boards of Elections do not check the citizenship of their voters, despite it being a requirement for registering.  Illegal aliens, therefore, would be able to register and effect the outcome of an election, even though they are not legally allowed to do so.

Although it appears that elections are in danger only in these states, all the states are susceptible due to the reciprocity agreements amongst states.  While an illegal alien can obtain a driver’s license in one state, he may not in another.  The illegal alien can get around this simply by getting the driver’s license in one state and moving to another.  Often, when you move from one state to another, the new state merely checks to see if you are a wanted felon or not.  Then they issue you a new license.  Bingo!  No citizenship test and now the state that doesn’t allow illegal aliens to obtain driver licenses now has illegals with driver’s licenses.

Once they have a valid driver’s license in the new state, they can apply for, and receive, many government benefits intended only for use by actual citizens.  Illegal aliens already have forged documents so that they can work and receive benefits.  This will only help to facilitate their status in this country.

Illegal aliens do not belong in America.  They should not be roaming the country killing or maiming people and they should never be behind the wheel of a car.  Whenever a person is stopped by police and suspected of being illegal, they should be arrested immediately and detained until their identity is confirmed.  If they are illegal, then they should be deported.  There is no need for a trial or bail.  Simply call the nearest ICE office and send them packing.
